Analysis of Al-Houthi Speeches in Relation to Maritime Security
On 16 January 2025, the leader of the Houthi movement, Abdul Malik Al-Houthi, delivered a speech addressing the Gaza ceasefire, describing it as a tactical failure for Israel and its allies, particularly the United States. He highlighted Yemen’s operational readiness to counter any breach of the agreement, with a focus on targeting Israeli maritime assets and allied naval operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Emphasising Yemen’s enhanced asymmetric capabilities, he framed these actions as a strategic deterrent designed to constrain future hostilities.
